Supreme Court Declares Booze Buyer Guilty

The Alabama Supreme Court ruled that under the bone dry prohibition law both purchaser and seller are guilty. Justice Virgil Bouldin stated receiving prohibited liquor into possession constitutes an offense, whether by manufacture, gift, or purchase. The decision came on appeal from Jim Jinwright of Pike County, overturning a lower court ruling that buying liquor was not an offense.

Mayo party passes through Dothan en route home

Dr W J Mayo internationally known surgeon and Mrs Mayo with two friends passed through Dothan today at noon from Panama City Fla en route to Rochester Minn. The party enjoys a six week cruise on Dr Mayo's yacht visiting Florida coast. They left the yacht at Panama City for winter and will likely return next spring on the way to the yacht.

Relief From Cold Beginning To Return In South

ATLANTA December 4 The long promised relief from bitter cold in the South began today with temperatures rising above freezing. The death toll reached thirty one with eight year old Mary Rawlings of Sevierville Tennessee dying from burns suffered while seeking warmth at an open grate.

A Dothan man, killed in Pensacola, was honored by his employers who suspended operations for the day. He left a wife and three young children under six, with his mother in Dothan also surviving.

After years of controversy the Senate debated seating William S. Vare as Senator from Pennsylvania or barring him for alleged corruption. A Norris resolution would refuse Vare a seat due to party nomination spending. The Elections Committee split on legality and recommended dismissing Wilson’s challenge. Democrats argued Vare or Wilson wasn’t elected amid fraud and urged sending the matter back to Pennsylvania.

Father Accused of Letting Infant Die

J. W. Eddims, 45, of Monette Arkansas, held on a manslaughter charge after authorities say he refused medical aid for his five year old daughter due to religious beliefs. The incident occurred in Jonesboro Arkansas and the case is awaiting further action.
