Ashton district moves to increase staff pay

Greg Sawka will depart as superintendent in June for career and family reasons. Nine of about 40 applicants were named. none are local, with one from out of state. The board approved multiple actions including grants, state aid receipt, facility use, a kitchen heater repair bid, and new bus tires, with the next meeting set for June 12 and a special meeting planned for June 19 to hear a university expert on test scores. Four board seats will be open in November, with applications due by May 30, and two hires were announced for math and counseling roles.
