Cuba Junta Seizes Power After Bloodless Revolt
In Havana a radical wing of the ABC movement ousted President Carlos Manuel de Cespe des and formed a five member junta led by Sergio Carbo Ramon Grau San Martin Guillermo Portela Porfirio Franco and Jose Miguel Irizarr. The coup was nonviolent but troops and fort guns watched the presidential palace as the junta announced equal power with Portela as nominal president before the diplomatic corps.
