Silver Boosters Form Association in Beaverhead County

A Beaverhead county meeting at Senator Pearl S. Smith’s office formed the Montana Silver Association chapter to push remonetization of silver in U S currency. Joseph Metlen chaired the event. C 2 Brazier outlined the statewide effort and a local committee was named. Over 200 members have joined locally as campaigns expand through Helena and other towns to educate and advocate for silver restoration.

Mrs Mary Rebich Passes After Lingering Illness In Butte

Mrs Mary Rebich aged 53 died in a Butte hospital last Saturday after a long illness. A native of Austria she lived on a ranch south of Dillon for 35 years. Funeral from St Rose Church Tuesday at 10 am with High Mass. Interment Mountain View cemetery. Survived by husband Mike Rebich Sr seven daughters and four sons in Dillon and Butte. Also a brother in Dillon and sister in Austria. Royal Neighbors Lodge to meet Thursday at 8 pm at I O O F with guests State Deputy Gilchrist and District Deputy Gallahan. initiation to be held. A shower for bride Verna Thompson Nettik noted among events.

County Bonds Sold At Session Of Commissioners

At the September meeting the board of county commissioners considered bids for funding bonds totaling 61681.57. The award went to State Bank & Trust Co. for the entire issue, pending court action on an 11100 restraining order. The sale awaits bank counsel approval and potential adjustment if the injunction is upheld. Two other bids were submitted.

Fifty Years of Dillon Masonry Celebrated in Dillon

Dillon Lodge No. 16 plans a Saturday Oct 14 event to mark the fiftieth anniversary of its charter. The program includes addresses by prominent Masons, an afternoon business session, and a banquet in the evening. The celebration recalls Beaverhead County's role in Montana history and early Masonry dating to Bannack in 1862.

Herbert P Kakuske Named New Coach at Normal College

Herbert P Kakuske a Milton College and University of Wisconsin graduate is named athletic coach and mathematics science instructor at the State Normal College. He led athletics at Janesville High School for four years and helped build intramural sports. Kakuske plans to move with his family from Wisconsin to Dillon and oversee a blended intercollegiate and intramural program as the autumn quarter opens September 25 with early registration September 23.

A Dillon meeting at the Andrus Apartments organized a local unit of the Young Democratic Clubs of America with Senator George M. Melton elected chairman and W. M. Stone secretary. Joe Fitzstephens was named a delegate to the Great Falls state convention on Sept. 16. The group plans social and business events and aims to recruit more delegates.

Rotarians Welcome Emerick as Member in Dillon Club

The Dillon Rotary Club held a Monday meeting with Fred Waldorf as chairman. Mayor Emerick was welcomed as a new member by President Walter H. Stephan. Prof. R. E. Albright spoke on Rotary’s sixth object and Cuban relations, noting sugar industry economics and the Pan American Conference in Montevideo.

Leck Eliza and ten master musicians return to Dillmont park for a Thursday dance. The orchestra made a hit on its previous engagement and is expected to draw a large crowd.

District Legion meeting outlines plans for mining district event

Beav erhead Post of the American Legion held a Thursday meeting to set a September 16 mining district convention here. T. E. Gilbert leads the reception committee with members including Berniece Metlen and J. C. Jeppson. Committees for banquet parade dance and refreshments were named, with events starting at 2 pm and a parade led by the Butte drum corps at 9 pm followed by a city hall dance.
