Dillon Youth Makes Record in Tournament
Jack Gilbert of Dillon, son of Mr and Mrs J H Gilbert, among Montana golf prospects, took Skeets Ferguson to an extra hole in the quarter finals of the Midland Empire tournament in Bozeman last week. Gilbert was three under par in preliminaries. Johnny Hayes of Bozeman won the match on Monday.

Prison Sentences Handed Down in Local Burglary Case
Sheriff Orr and Judge Stahl led to Deer Lodge W K Pryor and Charles Raw to begin sentences at the state penitentiary. Pryor pleaded guilty to burglary in Judge Bennett's court and drew 18 months with six months for attempted escape. Raw received a one year sentence after a prior guilty plea.

Lima Youngsters Survive Fall From Hotel Window
James and Robert Roush two and four year olds of Lima survive a 40 foot fall from a third story window at the Commercial hotel in Butte. Doctors call it a miracle with the younger child cushioning the older's fall. The family was in Butte for a day of shopping before school starts for their daughters.

Beaver head county high opens Wednesday with 280 students on day one, 12 fewer than last year. Six one hour periods, four morning and two afternoon, replace eight forty five minute terms. Rural teachers meet in annual Beaverhead conference

A Beaverhead post committee plans the America Legion convention in this city on Saturday September 19. A business session for Legion and auxiliary, a banquet, a dance, at least one drum corps, and an evening parade are scheduled with final plans to be discussed at the next Beaverhead post meeting.

Nurses Obtain Lease on Musselshell Valley Hospital
Miss Mae Talent and Miss Alice Sykes registered nurses have leased the Musselshell Valley hospital from Mrs. Mayme Yurick and took over management last week. Talent is a Murray hospital graduate from Butte and Sykes a Klein girl from Deaconess hospital in Billings. Both are Montana registered and bring experience in nursing and x ray. Renfro returns from Grand American trapshoot
Renfro of Dell, famed trapshooting artist, returned Tuesday from Vandalia Ohio where he competed in the Grand American handicap. He placed second in the doubles and was praised by Jimmy Robinson as the greatest in the world in this event, though his overall start was below his best.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the family home for Peder G Nelson a prominent old time ranchman who died last Saturday. He was born in Denmark 66 years ago and earlier ran a city bakery before turning to ranching north of the city. Survived by a son and two daughters all of this section. Jackson Youth Fatally Shot While Hunting Near Warm Springs
Donald Rolfe, 16, son of Forest Ranger and Mrs. R. B. Rolfe of Jackson, was killed by a .22 rifle accident while leading a rabbit hunt with James Woody, 11, on Warm Springs creek in the Big Hole basin. The fatal shot struck him in the forehead as the gun was used to aid climbing. Survived by parents and three sisters, funeral services were conducted at St. Rose Catholic church with Rev. F. X. Lechner.

George Main manager of the Metlen hotel received word Friday of the death Thursday night in Los Angeles of his brother Archie Main 59 a native of Illinois and former Dillon resident. Archie worked as a Metlen hotel clerk and later with his brothers in the family’s hotel business He is survived by his widow a son and daughter two sisters two brothers and two half brothers Funeral was held in Los Angeles. Diana Rebekah Lodge No 42 to resume meetings Thursday September 1 at 8 oclock.
