Spokane firm works rich mining property near Donovan station

The Standard Silver-Lead Mining company of Spokane now holds lease and bond on a rich silver and lead claim three and a half miles east of Donovan station in the Chigaman gulch district. They operate two eight man shifts, driven a tunnel, struck promising ore, and plan deeper development. Discovered by D. W. Erwin and Hurley Leach, the claim attracted several engineers who praised its value. Charles Hussey secured the lease quickly. The vein runs about 30 feet wide for 800 feet in rhyolite associated ore, with a tunnel in progress to reach greater depth. This boom accompanies Beaverhead county’s mining revival outlook.
