School bells to ring out on Tuesday in Beaverhead
The training and Beaverhead high schools will begin fall semesters on September 6 while Normal College starts September 12. Enrollment at the high school is expected to exceed former freshmen numbers after a rural student survey. The Daily Messenger will resume Friday afternoon, Sept. 2, with ads due by Friday morning. Six lattice booths display city divisions, plus Parent-Teacher and Beaverhead forestry exhibits. Judges will award cash prizes for top flowers or vegetables, and best kept premises. The show runs 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 11 pm with music by Marjorie Williams, Terry's Toot Owls, and the Rotary quartet.

In a packed city hall arena Beaverhead county fans watched Howard Ball of Pocatello and Imey Garfinkle of Salt Lake City fight 12 rounds to a draw in an action filled Legion card. Other bouts featured Earl Butner of Lima scoring a first minute knockout over Bill Ridell of Idaho Falls and Oliver Meeds of Dillon drawing against Tony Marno of Ogden. Referee Jack Harkner officiated.

Wrestling Bout Ends Draw After Shoulder Injury
George Kostenko of Butte and Paul Wanzak of Jackson wrestled 47 minutes before Kostenko retired with a shoulder injury. The bout ended in a draw though Wanzak led the crowd's decision after winning a fall in the first five minutes. The match drew a good crowd at the Dillon Auto building on Montana Street, with two local boys wrestling in the preliminaries.

Pioneer Ranchman Terrance Flynn Dies After Long Illness

Dillon Race Meet Among Best Seen Here Since 1916
A three day Dillon race meet drew small crowds but earned praise as one of the city’s finest since 1916. Harry Andrus and George Ditty organized two harness and two running races daily with wild west stunts and other features. A Friday boxing card ended in a 12 round draw between Howard Ball and Imey Garfinkle, while Saturday saw Paul Wanzak and George Kostenko wrestle to a 47 minute draw. Dances at Dillmont park and city hall capped the city’s lively weekend.

Mr and Mrs Ira Wagner came home Saturday night after visiting Washington and Oregon. They stayed with Mr and Mrs Will Meyers in Lugene Oregon and with Mrs Schuck in Portland. Mrs Meyers and Mrs Schuck once lived in Dillon. The Wagners describe the trip as wonderful.

Stephenson Aims for Marathon Flight With New Ship

Storm damages hit valley farms during noon hail
A heavy rain and hail storm Tuesday disrupted baying and harvesting across the valley. South of town standing grain and alfalfa suffered. the storm spanned over a mile, with hail described as terrific for a few minutes. Helena awaits the fair as the aerial spectacle prepares. a neto plane from Ohio is to arrive by Sept 5 with about a dozen ships entered for races and attractions at the twenty fifth Montana state fair.
