Dillon Embraces Chinchilla Industry Expansion

The Dillon chinchilla venture grows as breeders like Chapman Incorporated aim to supply stock rather than fishery scale sales. With pelts valued up to 30 000 dollars and limited market availability, the Pacific coast and intermountain states dominate production led by the Inglewood farm valued at 1 750 000 dollars and housing about 1200 chinchillas. Dillon’s high altitude, Andes-like climate suits the animals, and local stocks thrive as the industry expands amid strong demand for fine fur noting chinchillas reach about one and a quarter inches at maturity with silk-like fur.
