Montana Crop Prospects Bright With Varied Conditions
Outlook for the 1924 crop season in Montana is mixed yet promising overall. Winter wheat looks good with less abandoned acreage, while moisture varies across the state from deficient to ample. Rumors of foot and mouth disease have kept the state vet busy, though no outbreak is confirmed. Funds remain to build three state facilities at Dillon, and nurses will attend a Detroit convention via a special Pullman car. Summer school enrollments at Missoula near 400, with broad university offerings. City labor surpluses exist except in Butte and Anaconda, auto shipments rise in March, oil traffic improves, and assessed state valuation highlights Silver Bow, Cascade, and Yellowstone counties.
