Grain Rations Using Timothy Silage and Alfalfa Mix
A grain mixture can replace portions of the high protein ration with clover hay and silage reducing inclusion to about two thirds. For alfalfa hay and silage the grain mix alone yields good results, such as a 1200 pound cow receiving 50 pounds of milk with a ration of 12 pounds alfalfa hay 82 pounds silage and 9 pounds barley oats and peas.
