William H. Spearin died at Barrett Hospital after a months long decline. Born March 7 1856 in Maine he moved to Dillon in 1883 and owned west side property. Survived by a sister in Maine and in laws in Missouri. body likely shipped to Unionville for burial beside his wife.

World War II Veteran Francis L Thibideau Dies in Dillon

Francis L Thibideau, a World War II veteran and Dillon resident born January 17 1896 in Spearfish SD, died at his parents’ home on Kentucky avenue after a lingering illness. He served overseas after enlisting in 1917 in Butte. Survived by widow and two children Ethel and Jack, parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Funeral was held Wednesday at St James Episcopal church with burial at Mountain View cemetery.

New Willys Car on Display Here

J. W. Walters of the Walters Garage received one of the new Willys 77 cars Wednesday drawing a large crowd. The streamlined all steel body reduces wind resistance and features floating power to cut vibration. Walters notes the car will achieve 25 to 80 miles per gallon and reach speeds of 70 miles per hour.

Dance a Success A Dillon Charity Hall Event

The charity hall dance at city hall Saturday night, organized by the Dillon fire department, drew a large crowd. It cleared about $65 to be donated to Associated Charities for local relief work.

Parents and Young People Meet at annual gatherings

Mothers and daughters and fathers and sons enjoyed Friday events under the Dillon Parent-Teachers association. The high school gym hosted a lively program with community singing, a town and school skit, and a finale featuring a magician and rejuvenating machine. Dillon Residents Rally for Federal Building Offer

Dillon residents packed the courthouse to back a federal building project. J J Fitzgerald outlined a $90 000 appropriation and 60 day start while eight proposed sites were listed. A standing vote showed strong local support with several officials and citizens pledging backing and a $100 subscription to help secure a site.

Normal College Index Highlights Elementary Grades

January issue of the Normal College Index focuses on elementary school grades with tips for teachers in grades 4 through 6. Former Dillon resident Charles McFarlin dies in Nevada

Charles McFarlin long a Wisdom resident and later a Dillon confectionery operator died in Reno Nevada. He had moved to California and Nevada and is survived by his wife and two sons Alfred of Los Angeles and George of Monrovia Calif. The family was with him at his passing.

Beavers Lose Narrowly to Butte in Last Week’s Games

In Butte last Saturday evening the Beavers and Central battled to a 13-12 defeat for Dillon. Central previously beat the Beavers 22-21, both close defensive contests with guard Ritschel and Exum high scorers, while Twin Bridges upset Dillon 29-26 the night before.
