Beaverhead county high school students George Shaffner and Edward Bay, guided by Bernard Williams, won top awards at the Montana Woolgrowers convention in Great Falls. Their lambs, raised under project work, took first in Hampshire class and county exhibit, with five firsts in pens of three and a grand championship. Lambs were bought from Carter Livestock and Ike Rife ranches and fed locally, proving profitable winter feeding.

Born May 24 1857 in Linghand he came to Beaverhead in 1870 and later ran a Lima livestock business before moving to Dillon in 1914.
