Early supplemental feeding boosts sheep range efficiency
In Tehama county California sheep men found best results last winter by feeding two to three pounds of alfalfa hay plus one half pound of cottonseed cake. Alfalfa pellets worked well. Starting before weight loss is most economical, saving feed to keep ewes in good flesh and conserving range for higher carrying capacity.
