Governor Ford clarifies Selective Service rules in Montana

Governor Sam C. Ford released a statement to explain how Montana’s draft operates. He says Montana quotas for November and December will be about 50 percent lower than earlier months, prioritizing single men and aiming to avoid calling married men who were married before Pearl Harbor. He supports a national pool to prevent state discrimination and urges Congress to act. He notes cooperation with Selective Service officials and that some counties with no single men face unavoidable calls.
