Native Stone and Rustic Timbering Define Legion Plunge Near Malta
More than 15 000 people have visited the American Legion hot water plunge 20 miles east of Malta and about 10 miles west of Saco where the resettlement administration is developing a notable northwest recreation center. About 9 000 paid 10 cents for a swim in the mineral rich water as buildings take shape. The project will convert the 40 by 60 foot plunge to a children’s wading pool and add a 60 by 120 foot pool for swimmers, with native stone and rustic timbering shaping an era style pavilion and large stone fireplaces at each end for gatherings.
