What is a holiday and how has it changed over time
The piece questions the evolving meaning of holidays from sacred days to mere days off. It contrasts regional observances from Texas to New York, notes how Christmas and New Year are celebrated with less religious focus, and cites Canadian, Mexican, and Panamanian practices. It ends reflecting on whether Americans will keep or create more holidays. It also mentions visitors Mr and Mrs Robert Hilton staying with Mr and Mrs W D Tovey.
