Purina Chows Reaches 50 Millionth Ton Milestone
On April 5 the 50 millionth ton of Purina Chows was produced at Ralston Purina’s Checkerboard Square plant in St. Louis. Donald Danforth bagged the milestone, receiving a gold checkered bag. The founder William H. Danforth guided tours of the research farm, now deceased, as the company credited farmers for the milestone amid notes on product evolution from horse feed to multi ingredient rations with hormones minerals and antibiotics.
