Robert McArthur and C Gosta Miller Jr. will be awarded Eagle Scout badges at a Court of Honor in the Beaverhead County Courthouse at 8 p.m. Friday sponsored by the Dillon Kiwanis Club. Both 15 year old Beaverhead County High School freshmen have long Serviced in Troop 64 and Explorer Post 61 with multiple leadership roles and honors including Ad Altare Dei and Order of the Arrow Brotherhood.

Western Montana College of Education starts Sunday May 27 with graduates dinner at 1 30 pm and Baccalaureate at 3 pm led by Reverend William J. Holland on the subject Christian Agnostics. Art exhibit by Mary Emerick Stella Bierrum and O Kay Moe runs through the week with gallery hours. A Gilbert and Sullivan opera Ruddigore directed by Brinton Jackson plays May 28 at 8 pm. Candlelight Procession is Thursday 8 30 pm and the fifty ninth annual commencement is at 10 am.

Vigilante Electric Cooperative set to begin a major construction and modernization project after a Rural Electrification Administration loan of 840000 was approved. The plan adds 91 miles of distribution lines connecting 160 new members and 41 miles of transmission lines, plus substations in Wisdom Dillon and Twin Bridges and a new Bannack to Wisdom power link. Over 600000 will fund system improvements and substations, boosting service to over 2000 consumers in nine counties.

Arson Attempt Costs Two Years in Prison
Minor B Liday of Idaho Falls was sentenced to two years in Deer Lodge state prison after pleading guilty to arson in a district court. He allegedly set fires with oil soaked rags at the Darrel Peterson ranch home near Bedrock weeks earlier, but occupants quenched them before major damage. Sheriff John MacDonald and Undersheriff Lloyd Thomas investigated. Liday was taken to Deer Lodge to begin serving.

Western Students Press State Board to Cut Fees
