A May 1 surprise party honored Miss Anastasia Boger on her 13th birthday with games and refreshments. Attendees included many local youths and family, with red white and blue decor and an American flag centerpiece.
A. S. Johnson arranged the sale of Wm. E. Kennison’s Sheep Creek basin ranch to Albert Anderson for 130000. The 1000 acre property includes well cultivated land under ditch, fully fenced, with 4500 sheep and fine buildings. Located in the county’s south end, the ranch borders a quality sheep range.
Mayme Dowd and Margaret Caldwell of the class of seventeen visiting at the Orphans Home School and Caldwell home. Mrs Kern arrived in Dillon for her ill daughter and stayed until Saturday. Florence Talcott and Mary Hyland visited near Twin Bridges over the weekend. Wednesday classes ended early for May festival practice. Miss Day Stark Hazard and Bettes dined at Normal Hall. Normal students did Junior Red Cross work Friday afternoon. Miss Covington and Miss Taylor dined Wednesday evening.
Margaret Charles spent the weekend in Butte, staying for leisure and local events.
A campaign kick off drew crowds in Melrose on Saturday evening as Frank Walker Tom Davis and Joseph Jackson spoke. Mrs Harvey was named captain of the drive with ongoing efforts through the week assisted by Mrs Thomas Sappington and R E Dutch. Local notes include health updates and visits from residents returning from Butte Jerome Arizona Reichle Fresno and Dewey with church and roadster purchases also mentioned.
