Despairing Dillon Contractor Kills Greek Cafe Owner
Eph Stoller a longtime Dillon contractor shot Christ Scholomitis a Greek cafe manager with a double barreled shotgun late Friday. The coroner's inquest found Scholomitis died instantly and Stoller surrendered at the sheriff's office. The jury attributed the death to Stoller with Motives tied to family troubles and a broken home.

Secretary Charles D. Greenfield of the Montana Council of Defense issued orders from meetings on March 15 and April 22. The actions cover parades requiring permits, handling loafers and vagrants, mandating five days of work weekly, halting German teaching in schools and removing German propaganda texts, plus enforcing ride theft laws on trains. The secretary will supply copies to officials and distribute registration blanks to identify nonworking able bodied persons. Peace officers will round up idlers for registration and arrest nonworkers.

Former Dillon Man Henry Be McDaniel Dies in Deer Lodge
Henry Be McDaniel, 71, a former Dillon resident who ran a Deer Lodge candy shop, died last Thursday after a brief illness. R. E. Foster and H. Brundage brought his body to Dillon for a Saturday funeral. He is survived by sister Addie Churchill of Dillon and brother Dana McDaniel of Great Falls.

Last Saturday the college graduated two seniors J Haton Danny Baughman and Wilhelm Rollwitz then enlisted in the navy. A dormitory banquet honored them with wrist watches before they left for Butte and Salt Lake City. Hundreds of students saw them off amid strong support for the war effort.

Prices Fixed on Wool Clip by Government In 1917
Frank D. Miracle of Helena M has announced government fixed wool prices for the 1917 clip under Secretary S W McClure and the National Wool Growers association. The government will purchase the entire clip with 3 percent handling charges for ungraded wool and 3.5 percent for graded wool. Growers may receive 75 percent of value on bill of lading at six percent interest while the government aims to assume commission and handling costs. Boston-based July 30 values form the basis.

Five to 60 Saturday draws volunteers for Fort McDowell

Industrial Contest Winners Across County Schools
The industrial contest concluded last Friday at the Normal training school. Miss Sarah McDonald of Argenta won bread baking for using over 60 percent substitutes, and Miss Nevada Brown of Willow View school in Rattlesnake won garment making. The top four finishers were Willow View, Argenta, Lima, and Riverside, with Lima arriving too late for finals. Each winner earns a free trip to the state fair next fall.

City Council approves bills in regular session
City Council met at city hall on May 1 in regular session with Mayor Gilbert and eight Aldermen.
