Field Day at Normal College A Spectacular Parade of Nations

Hundreds of gayly dressed girls and children participated in the Normal college field day. The parade featured allied nations led by Uncle Sam, a grand march, national anthems, a boy scout drill, and dance routines by primary to college levels. Weather permitting, next Friday hosts the annual track meet with over two hundred trainees and a plan to fund patriotic work.

Undersheriff Proposes County Chain Gang to Employ Loafers

O. C. Gosman, undersheriff, proposes using jailed men to fill labor needs by forming a county chain gang. Men would work in fields during harvest, earn standard wages, and continue with new assignments after finishing each job. If idle, they would receive another task. Farmers would feed and pay.

German immigrant jailed on sedition charge in Dillon

Johnie John, a German, is held in county jail on sedition accusations after allegedly making patriotic threats and drawing a knife on W. H. Keller. A preliminary hearing yesterday left him bound over to the district court in 5,000 bond. Keller, born in America to German parents, reportedly confronted Johnie over patriotism.

Mrs Louis Pohndorf Dead in Dillon Funeral Held in Butte

Mrs May Powers Pohndorf born in Beaverhead County and educated in Dillon died in Butte last Saturday. She married mining engineer Louis Pohndorf and is survived by her husband two young sons and two brothers. Funeral services were held in Butte.

Man Dies at Ranch in Big Hole Basin

Tom Hunter collapsed at work on Jorgen Jorgenson’s ranch near Fox in the Big Hole basin. Death attributed to heart trouble. Relatives not known. Remains transported to Dillon on Saturday.

Clarence Wall brought Robert Shannon from Lima on Monday afternoon. Shannon will serve sixty days in the county jail for refusing to work after being sent to Cook Sheep Company's place last Saturday to report for duty.

One Hundred Millions for the Red Cross Charity Drive

A historic appeal calls for one hundred million dollars to fund the Red Cross across Europe. Big June Horse Sale at Dillon Yards Scheduled

The Dillon Horse Sales company plans a big auction on Wednesday and Thursday June 6 and 7 at the new Dillon yards. Manager George Ditty says governments have contracted horses boosting demand for three classes of horses including a large British contract batch. growers urged to list animals to meet this peak season demand ahead of haying and harvest.

Five Men Admitted as United States Citizens

Judge J. C. Smith granted citizenship to five men after a civics class exam at the Normal training school. The new citizens are Nels Larsen Rasmussen Hans Peter Sorenson from Denmark, John Pellevoizen from France, and John Wm Durant from Canada.

Enormous Land Deal Nets Beaverhead Ranches to Peterson

John Peterson, known as the cattle king of the Horse Prairie, bought Nay & Jacobs outfit near Grant for 487 600 dollars. The purchase includes 14 000 plus acres, several thousand head of cattle and horses, and all improvements and water rights. He now owns about 30 000 acres and ~6 000 cattle, after selling 3 300 acres to Mrs A Pierce.

Engineers Inspect Reservoir Dam By Kirkpatrick

The state board of engineers appointed to inspect the reservoir on the upper Rattlesnake viewed the new dam yesterday. Located in a forest reserve, the board included E. W. Kramer of Missoula city engineer G. W. Elder and W. H. Chapman county surveyor.

The Max Lauterbach ranch northeast of town will be colonized by Superior Land Company of Chicago. McKinney Arrestin Priority Law Case Stirs Lemhi

Peter Mc Kinney was arrested for alleged trespassing on cattle range of sheep owned by land companies he represents. Walter and Elijah Schofield filed the complaint. G W Geertson also arrested for a similar offense. Both posted bond. Future priority cases move from probate to district court for trial at the next term.

Mrs Yearian Charged With Trespass on Cattle Range

Emma Yearian was served with a warrant for trespassing sheep on a cattle range and appeared at the courthouse. The complaint was by Anker Amonson. The county attorney offered bond on her personal recognizance, citing her substantial property value. The offense is a misdemeanor.

Wisdom residents greet Dillon visitors at county seat

D C Wampler a well known Wisdom resident shook hands with Dillon friends last Friday. Charles Goff and Harry Helming were Wisdom visitors at the county seat the same day.
