Lands Department Chief Field Agent Post Delayed to July

Commissioner William Pilgeram of the State Department of Lands and Investments says a successor to the late Hans Biering is unlikely before July 1 due to budget constraints. Biering, who died last month, served under Gov. Roy Avers and was reappointed by Gov. John W. Bonner. Pilgeram notes an appropriation shortage will hinder a timely appointment as the department contends with travel and per diem increases approved by the recent legislature.
