Dillon's National Guard company held its first post war ball at the W M C E gym with about 90 couples in uniformed men and formal dress. Company G hosted an open house displaying infantry and public safety equipment including Browning M2 and Garand items, field gear, and a two demonstration walkie talkie sets. Joe Smith's orchestra provided music for a program dance totaling 179 in the grand march before a midnight close. Punch service supported by Company G. The event showcased national defense activity and community support.

Beaverhead County Board Adopts Emergency Road Budget

Clergyman Impostor Arrested After Fraudulent Check
A man posing as Rev. Emmanuel Evans passed a 700 dollar check for 600 dollars of goods in Dillon yesterday and fled with the money. The phony instrument was reported by The State Bank, and Sheriff Paul Temple issued an alert. He was tracked to Roberts Idaho by Idaho patrol and Rigby sheriff and returned to Dillon to face charges. Officials identify the man as Franklin L. Jackson a six time offender. Stamps ink and blank checks for further forgeries were found in his luggage.

Scouts Plan First Week Rally and State Capitol Pilgrimage
Boy Scouts of America Troop 14 met in the Bagley building on Feb 28. New Jury Panel To Be Drawn For Pending Cases
Art Ramps pleaded guilty to forgery before Judge Bennett admitting forging another man’s name on a Feb 14 check for about $20. He was sentenced to three years in the Deer Lodge penitentiary. The State v. Sam Grover was continued to March 27. The current jury panel and special venue were dismissed. a new panel will be drawn from the 1950 assessment roll before further cases.

Dillon City Council met March 2 at 8 p m to approve two new street lights on Californi street and an informational sign at South Montana and Reeder to guide drivers missing Glendale. Grass Fire at Sporich Ranch Near Dillon
A grass fire at Tony Sporich ranch north of Dillon on Thursday March 2 around 12 45 p m prompted a volunteer fire response. No property damage occurred as firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. The Sporich home on the property burned on January 9 this year.

Rites Held For Mrs. Rachel Jones At Brundage

Water Board Approves Madison Irrigation Projects
Governor Bonner announced the State Water Conservation Board approved three irrigation projects in Montana totaling about 12 500 acres. Petrolia Beach in Petroleum county would irrigate 5 300 acres, Ruby-Canals Extension in Madison county 5 000 acres, and Nevada Creek Canals in Powell county 2 200 acres. Brother of Local People Dies Sunday
Gerald Theodore Jones 63, a former Dillon resident, died Sunday in Seattle after medical treatment. Born June 2, 1886 in Luverne Minnesota, he ranchd in the area and Madison county, later lived in Anaconda, worked as Deer Lodge county hospital superintendent, and for three years lived in Livingston. Surviving include his wife, two sons Leonard and Vincent, daughters and sisters in law, brothers in law, several nieces and nephews, four grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at Kendrick chapel Anaconda with Rev T P Neste officiating. Burial Hill cemetery. Mrs Thoreson has arrived in Dillon to visit Hawkins home.
