A small stove fire at Dillon Electric Company called out the Volunteer Fire Department Monday evening about 7 30. The VFD quickly extinguished the blaze before much smoke damage occurred.

City Policeman Breezes Through Appendectomy
City policeman Warren Stone Jr was rushed to Barrett hospital Sunday evening for an acute appendectomy and underwent the operation about 11 am. His condition was reported excellent Monday morning.

Forging Suspect Receives Six Year Prison Term
Franklin L. Jackson also known as the Rev. Emmanuel Evans was arraigned on a bad check charge in Dillon and later pleaded guilty to issuing a fictitious instrument. Judge Lyman Bennett sentenced him to six years in Deer Lodge prison. Kenneth Downing faced liquor after hours charges with bond set at 150 and trial dates moved to March 16.

Regular session of the Beaverhead County Commission on March 6 7 and 8 1950 approved last minutes and gave Paul Temple a 30 day leave. Commissioner Giles moved and the board adopted a resolution establishing a fire season to protect range farm and forest resources and prevent soil erosion within Beaverhead County under state law.

Levant JT Taylor 68, longtime Dillon resident and former Taylor Electric owner, died at home last Sunday. He was born January 1 1882 in Surry New Brunswick. married Jessie Hainds in Butte in 1912. Dora Smith First Candidate for July Primary
Dora E. Smith filed Tuesday March 14 to run for Clerk and Recorder on the Republican ticket. A Dillon native with long local ties, she served as county agent secretary for eight years and earlier as secretary to Senator George M Melton. Her two sons are Emery and Donald. Filing closes 30 days before the July 18, 1950 primary.

Armstead rancher E. W. Ted Renfro captured his fifth international flyer title at the interstate trapshooting tourney in Kansas City Missouri. He tied with Ernest Jelley of Kansas City and William Perdue of Mobile Alabama at 87 of 100 before Renfro won in a miss-and-out shoot-off by hitting three straight after Jelly and Perdue faltered.

The Beaverhead Museum association announces its county museum opening on Saturday March 18 1950 with an open house on March 18 and 19 2 to 6 p m and 7 to 10 p m Saturday and 2 to 6 p m Sunday. Radio coverage planned with KOPR Butte and tape recordings for broadcast the next day. Public hours begin Monday during usual business hours and dedication ceremonies will follow in spring.

Pfe Franklin M. Burwell of Dillon Montana graduated March 7 from the Air Force department of photography at Colorado. At 19 he completes technical studies in the world’s largest photography school and is set to begin an air force career. Burwell, a Beaverhead County High School alumnus, entered the Air Force in October 1948 and finished basic training at Sheppard Air Force Base Texas.

Eight Truckers Fined for Overloading in State Patrol Checks
Patrolman Bob Wright led a truckload limit check on March 13, fining eight drivers $10 each for overloading. Oliver R. Chapman faced Judge George E. Baker on March 13 for driving under the influence, pled not guilty, and posted $150 bond for a March 17 hearing. On March 14 Chapman pleaded guilty and was fined $100 by Justice Baker.
