Congress Corrects Mine Work Suspension Law

The House approved and sent to President Hoover a bill to fix an error in the law suspending mine assessment work for fiscal year 1982. The change aims to prevent jumpers from filing on mineral claims in western states while protecting current owners’ rights. Speaker Garner notified Governor Belzar of Nevada that the bill was deemed satisfactory by Arentz, Evans and other western members. Senator Oddie and Representative Englebright sponsored the measure to guard claims from midnight to noon tomorrow. The bill addresses a loophole that allowed claim jumps if the law remained unguarded.
