William Reed Pioneer Dies After Lingering Illness
William Reed a Beaverhead County pioneer and one of the last Grand Army of the Republic members died at Barrett hospital Sunday after a lingering illness. He was 86 years old and had lived in the county nearly 60 years. Born in Freeport Pennsylvania on April 2 he was widely known and esteemed throughout the county. Continued on page 4.

SNYDER and Theodore Stewart were sentenced to two years in state prison by Judge Lyman H Bennett yesterday after pleading guilty in district court to burglarizing cabins in the Argenta mining district. The sentence was suspended on good behavior, following a lecture. A stolen car linked to Sam Arndts was found in Butte with no damage. Harold Parks paid a $15 fine for a disturbance. A Harley Davidson motorcycle belonging to Harry Colfer was stolen from a Standard Oil station, with about $10 in merchandise taken.

Jail Break Exposes Wall Gap In Baverhead County
In Baverhead County a trio named Charles Crownholm Whitey Larson and Larry Donaho escaped Monday by removing a wall stone near the roof and lowering themselves to the ground. Dillon Store Burglary Infiltrated Via Skylight In Montana
Burglars forced entry at the Montana Mercantile last Thursday night using a skylight at the rear. They took little loot, with a sugar shortage and an oatmeal sack found in a sugar bin.
