State Board of Control Revises Cage Rules
In an executive session the State High School Athletic Board of Control reverted basketball rules to 1948 procedures. The change, effective January 17, adds a three minute official’s time out and lets the offended team choose to shoot the last free throw or take the ball out at center after a foul. If the free throw is taken, play resumes with the ball to the opposing team on that end. The modification ends a previous return to alternate out of bounds and aims to curb an unfair advantage.
