Snowy January Indicates Normal Montana Water Flow Next Spring
The January snow fell above normal across most of Montana with six to ten inches in valleys and plains. At elevations above five thousand feet snow depths ranged from two to ten feet in timber, with windward slopes shedding snow into gulches. Officials say the snowpack has grown since December 1910, and current conditions point to a fully normal water flow in Montana streams next spring.
