Don J. Smith, son of Dillon dry cleaning operators, returns to Dillon having purchased the late J. F. Kelly’s law library and office equipment. He will start practice this week in the same location after graduating from the University of Utah and working with Hatch and Emery in Salt Lake City. His wife and young son accompany him.
Mrs A A Schroeder was the guest of honor at a surprise party at her home on South Dakota street Monday evening. Mr Schroeder organized the event with arrangements for a birthday luncheon after cards and celebration.
Funeral services for Byron Nay were held last Saturday at the Brundage chapel. Nay was a prominent Beaverhead County ranch man and pioneer settler in southwestern Montana, arriving with his parents to Bannack as a child. The Rev. Edward R. Johnstone officiated, Dillon lodge No. 16 AF and AM conducted graveside rites, and interment followed at Mountain View cemetery. Pallbearers were James Mansfield, Pat Flynn, Walter Paddock, Roy A. Stocker, Earl L. Tash, and Fred Henne.
Rodney Foster, serving in the U S Navy, is home for the holidays visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs R J Foster, at their home.

Lewis Diel, 16, of Box Elder Montana, is named one of four national winners in the 1948 4-H Field Crops contest. Winners receive all expense trips to the 27th National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago and $200 Fowler McCormick scholarships.
Christmas Eve and Dec 26 27 programs feature hymns readings and nativity tableaux at Dillon churches. Lists of performers choristers choirs and soloists names (including Hildreth Bradley Strasser McLaughlin and Graesser) appear along with parish roles and organizers for the Lutheran church events and children’s nation customs program.
Mr and Mrs Dave Moffett and their children from Gillette Wyoming are visiting for Christmas as guests of Mrs J M and Mr and Mrs Norman Giles, joining local hosts for the season.
