Dillon Lodge Installs Officers in Regular Meeting

At Dillon Lodge No. 16 AF and AM the officers for the coming year were elected and installed: Worshipful Master W. J. Biernum, Senior Warden H. W. Rodgers, Chaplain Frank H. Haplain, and other officers A. A. Schroeder treasurer and J. C. Farr secretary. On Tuesday December 2 Dillon Chapter No. 8 RAM held elections and installed Walter P. Scott high priest, Wilbur L. Squires king, I. E. Pruitt scribe, A. A. Schroeder treasurer, J. C. Fuller secretary. Appointive officers include J. H. Ikkelson captain of host and others.

Columbia Concert Trio Delights Audience At High School

Ariane Brown violin Ardyth Walker cello and Richard Gregor piano performed Sunday afternoon as the Dillon Community Concert Association second group. The trio offered a baroque to brilliant program captivating a nearly full audience and raising the circuit's high standing with their talent and personality.

Christmas Program At Training School

A Christmas program will be presented on Friday afternoon December 17 at both the Bagley building and the primary department. The programs include an elementary play Santa Visits, songs, and bells at 1 45 p m in the Primary building, and an orchestral program in Bagley at 2 15 p m featuring works by Schuman Bach Pal Lemont Kullak a junior girls chorus and Christmas carols led by Mrs Edna Moe and Miss Elizabeth ter. City Skating Rink Prepared for Free Use

Young residents gather at the municipal skating rink east of the courthouse as water floods the rink daily and winter weather continues. The city funds and maintains the rink through the winter for free use by children and adults.

Death claims Mrs A Salmon Sunday night

Mrs Alice Bell Salmon longtime Beaverhead County resident died Sunday night at a Deer Lodge resting home. Born January 10 1871 at Cable Montana she lived in the state her entire life. Survived by husband Arthur two sons Frank P Bell Earl Bell two daughters Mrs M J Osborn and Mrs William Hayes a sister Mrs C M Hansen and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Brundage chapel with Rev Belle Long officiating and interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were Guy Gray Frank P Madden Ray Nelson W W Hawkins Lambert Eliel and W G Gilbert.

Elks Offer Prizes For Yale Contests

Dillon lodge No 1554 BPOE will judge Christmas decorations for cash prizes on December 22. Judging covers outdoor displays only with prizes of 10, 5 and 2.50. The committee led by Hary Tash will tour residential streets after the lodge session.

Pioneer Rancher Byron Nay Dies After Long Illness

Byron Nay 78 a Grasshopper region rancher and Bannack native died at his ranch after a long illness. Born December 7 1870 in Bannack he spent his life in Beaverhead county with brothers Milton and Ross Nay on extensive shorthorn cattle holdings. He belonged to Dillon lodge AF & AM Dillon Chapter RA M St Elmo Commandery KT and Bagdad Shrine. Survived by widow Nina Nay a son and daughter in law two daughters and sons in law and five grandchildren. Body at Brundage funeral home pending rites.

Christmas Tree Placed on Lawn by Dillon Rotary Club

The Dillon Rotary club sponsors a community Christmas tree on the depot lawn as in years past. Birch Creek members delivered the tree Sunday and Bradley Electric Co will trim it with colored lights. Ladies Guests Attend Dillon Rotary Club Meeting

The Dillon Rotary club held a ladies night with wives of members as guests. President Fred Bridenstine thanked contributors and announced a basketball game tonight at the Normal College gym. Next week officials from the state highway and State fish and game departments will speak. Rotarian Ring Hasselgren provided songs with Tom Flynn accompanying.

Removing Cattle From County Brings Fine

Walter Wing of Butte faced a $50 fine in justice court after pleading guilty to taking a shipment of cattle from Beaverhead to another county without inspection for brands by a state brand inspector. Sheriff Paul Temple urged would be movers to consult authorities on proper procedures before interstate livestock transfers.

Mrs. Andrew Boyd sister of Mrs. Harold Hansen of this city died recently at her Milwaukee home. She had visited Dillon several times and left many friends here to mourn her loss.

Livestock Auction Benefit For Cancer Society Saturday

Beaverhead residents contribute animals for a 3 PM Saturday auction at the Andrus hotel lobby to aid the local American Cancer Society unit. Transient Ralph Binney Sentenced to Three Years

Ralph W. Binney pleaded guilty in district court to attempting to pass a fraudulent check. Judge Lyman H. Bennett sentenced him to three years in the state penitentiary at Deer Lodge. Binney was taken to Deer Lodge that afternoon by Sheriff Paul Temple.

Christmas events boost Dillon shopping and sports weekend

Dillon plans a big Christmas weekend with hundreds of bargains and extended store hours Friday Saturday and Monday. An invitational basketball tourney at Beaverhead County High School brings Whitehall Sheridan Twin Bridges and Dillon in round robin play Friday and Saturday with Beaver tallying lineup including Johnson Westad Brown Davis forwards. A free Movie show for county children at Hartwig theater starts at 2 pm followed by a livestock auction at Andrus hotel lobby with calves a sheep and a pig donated by local ranchers. Rotarians deck the depot lawn with a large lighted tree as part of downtown display.

Bulldogs Undaunted After Five Defeats on Barnstorming Tour

Normal College Bulldogs faced five straight losses on a Utah Idaho barnstorming trip to Salt Lake City Pocatello and Rexburg fending off defeats to Westminster Idaho State and Ricks College. They bounced back to a 63 51 win at home over Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa Idaho and vow to rebound after the holidays.

Noon lunches announced for Beaverhead high students

Mrs. A. T. Crossley, manager of Beaverhead county high school snack bar, announces noon lunches will be served starting Jan 3 in Beaver Lodge. Hot lunches with main dish, vegetable or salad, milk, cocoa and dessert will be offered daily during the noon hour. Five dollar meal tickets available at the school business office.

Connors Surrenders After 24 Hours Hidden Near Wisdom

Arthur Connors was taken into custody at a northwest Wisdom cabin after a day under surveillance by Sheriff Temple and Deputy Baker. He is being brought to Dillon for observation following a snowmobile trip to his camp in the Big Hole basin where he was armed and considered dangerous.
