Estray Cattle Sales Show Bills Of Sale Inadequate
Nearly $80 000 has been sent to Secretary Dan Raymond of the state livestock board by Chicago commission firms for estray cattle marketed between November 11 and December 1. The funds reflect owners failing to provide proper bills of sale or complete brand descriptions on bills of lading, prompting claims backed by proof of ownership. Eastern buyers often misdescribe stock, leading to inspections rejecting cattle and triggering payments to the board upon claims.
