Reports from Dillon County indicate the influenza scare eased after the quarantine was lifted two weeks ago. Only twelve mild cases and two deaths occurred, with no schoolroom spread, and teachers and doctors, led by Dr. M A Walker, confirm no renewed outbreak.
The Hartwig Theater opens with Olive Tell in Secret Strings and features Bryant Washburn in Kidder Koy tomorrow night. Constance Talmadge Good Night Paul Friday and Laney Madeline the same evening. George Palmer veteran engineer of the Short Line was badly injured when a ladder above a water pipe on a tank at Redrock broke. Palmer, in charge of train No. 31, fell from the tender and sustained a severe scalp wound. Pump man Bolock also injured and taken to Salt Lake City hospital.
Butte schoolteacher Miss Fannie Lipson spent time in Dillon this week and returned home yesterday.
A company of soldiers moved through Dillon yesterday on a march from Brigham Utah to Spokane Washington. Their transit was noted by local observers as part of ongoing military movements in the region.
Mrs. Esna Florence Kerr died early Monday at Curtis hospital after a month of illness due to influenza and pneumonia. Funeral held at Brundage chapel with Rev. H. G. Humphrey. interment Mountain View cemetery. She was born in Springhill Gallatin county 32 years ago, married Wallace Kerr in 1912, had a son, and is survived by her husband child parents and siblings including Ralph C. Smith with the US army in England.
A group of Dillon men led by Roy Jackson Ed Farnsworth Claxton Schuler and Martin Jackson toured the Elk basin and Dry creek oil districts last week. They report glowing news especially from Dry creek where Hoover Development Co holds stake. Ranches Change Hands Hugh Gardiner buys Frank Moe and Peter Olsen ranches at Melrose plus the Charles Bennington ranch. Rasmus Peterson acquires the Chas Felt ranch near Melrose.
Joe Shaw, a prominent Big Hole basin rancher, purchased B. W. Emerick’s residence on South Washington street. Mrs. Shaw and the children will spend the winter there and attend the local school.
The Beaverhead county delinquent tax list is unusually large this year due to unpaid taxes by stockholders in the Big Hole Irrigation district. Regular delinquency runs about 5 000 dollars, but irrigation tax raises total to roughly 30 000 dollars.
Morton Elliott, a Dillon boy, is convalescing in a New York hospital after an overseas journey from France. He suffers rheumatism and hopes to be sent to Montana in time to spend Christmas with homefolks.
Bruce Christman Frank Donohue and Lawrence Fenner have returned from Bozeman where they trained at the students' training camp. All are wearing the U S uniform and look one hundred percent American soldiers.
Robert McDermott was tried at Lima on a charge of prowling the Peat hotel and stealing several articles. He was brought in from Lima on Friday to serve the jail sentence.
Mr and Mrs Jens Peter son reports their child Peter Peterson left yesterday for San Diego California where he will spend several months away from home for an extended stay.
A man named George Sandy died in a Hogan's alley cabin last Wednesday from complications of influenza. His feet had frozen, making surgical treatment impossible as influenza developed.

P. J. Gilligan the deputy state humane officer spent yesterday in Dillon attending to state humane office business and related duties with local officials.
Mrs Rebecca Jardine, who had been visiting at the Roy Murre home, departed Monday evening for Jo gan Utah.
Mrs. C. W. Wyman left last Thursday for Portland seeking relief from an acute rheumatism attack after influenza.
Beaverhead county plans to raise its $15,000 quota in the United War Work drive despite bad roads and the influenza outbreak. By Monday evening $13,500 had been raised in cash and pledges with all precincts reporting. A further canvass of Nilson will be made this week to reach the remaining $1,600, and organizers refuse to quit.
The Beaverhead county commission held sessions December 2 and 3 1918 approving claims auditing wages and issuing warrants. Bids from The Examiner Printing Co for two years of county printing and from Drs Ryburn and Stephan for county physicians were accepted. Board signed contracts and arranged fairgrounds appraisal.

Harry Andrus and Lester Schultz are due home next week from San Diego where they attended a military institute. The school has shut down due to a influenza flareup.
Rodney Foster plans to return to Minnesota next month to continue studies at the Shat tuck military institute which was closed a month ago due to an influenza epidemic.
