Montana officials say wildlife is worth eight to ten million dollars annually and big game license sales nearly doubled since 1940. A seven year review shows resident licenses rose from 39 201 in 1939 to 1946 and only 18 percent of hunters returned license stubs, with 52 percent reporting success and 15 percent taking both deer and elk.
