Montana University Grizzlies routed the Normal Bulldogs 193 to 44 as a strong defense limited Normal to little scoring. Cope led with 28 points, Rocheleau 17, Cheek 11, while S Johnson scored 14 for Normal. Anaconda Boosters beat the Junior varsity 51 to 21 in the prelim.

A public hearing at city hall heard testimony on a proposal by local milk dealers to raise the retail price of milk from 16 to 20 cents per quart. Halfway Mark Reached in Museum Building Drive
The drive to raise 13,500 reached the halfway point with 6,850 paid by Tuesday night according to finance chair Mrs. Fred de. The committee plans to post a donors list soon and asks anyone wishing to donate to call 411 for pickup. Publicity chair Edith Palmer announced a KXLF broadcast on December 4 during the Playground Jamboree at 3 40 to 4 00 PM with a recording tested and ready for airing.

Early Day Resident Miss Carter Dies After Brief Illness
Miss Janie V. Carter 79 longtime Anaconda teacher died in a local hospital after a brief illness. She lived in Dillon years ago and was known to older residents. Funeral in Anaconda Episcopal church then graveside at Mountain View in Dillon. She belonged to the Episcopal church Eureka chapter O E S and the AAUW. Bancik retired as a teacher in 1937.

Victim of Hunting Accident Formerly Dillon Instructor
Jason Preston of Bozeman athletic trainer and equipment manager at Montana State College died in a Livingston hospital after being a patient since November 6. He previously served as assistant coach at Beaverhead County High School and left Dillon about 1935. Survived by wife, parents, and a sister. Preston was shot in the knee when a 30-30 rifle discharged by a hunting companion during a deer hunt on November 9. An embolus blood clot developed and caused his death.

Rancher Sam Grover Pleads Guilty in Centennial Valley Case
Sam Grover of the Centennial valley pleaded guilty in Judge George E. Baker's court to two counts of transporting cattle without inspection. He was fined 50 dollars for moving cattle from Centennial valley to Butte on Oct. 18 and 75 dollars for transporting cattle from Madison to Beaverhead county. both fines were paid.

Dillon Boy Injured in Auto Crash
James Bateman was rushed to Barrett hospital after his car skidded on a snowy curve opposite the P J Lovell warehouse and struck a telephone pole. He was unconscious from a head blow and thrown about 30 feet. Tom Ross and Darwin Peterson had minor injuries. Patrols investigated. another wreck on Dead Man's Curve near Reichle left no injuries. A Rexburg Idaho driver, Cad Sheets, faced DUI charges after a 1947 Chevrolet pickup crash in the county. Calvin Cooper of Rexburg injured. both men treated and taken to Lima. Elmer Selway traveled from Horse Prairie.

Veteran Halden E. McKenzie Dies In Icy Car Crash Near Dell
World War II veteran Halden E. McKenzie, 24, was killed when a pickup skidded on icy Highway 91 two miles south of Dell, rolled over several times, and pinned him beneath the wreckage. He died from a crushed chest after being extricated and transported to Dillon. McKenzie, born January 27, 1923, served in the U.S. forces during the war. The accident occurred after an earlier stalled vehicle forced him to seek another ride. The State Patrolman, Col. Raymond Schwartz, and a bus driver responded to the scene. Page 4.

Pair Held On Charge Of Larceny In Burglary Case
City Patrolman Williams arrested Jack Benninghoveru i after a Sunday raid tied to an attempted burglary of the Lobby bar. A minor youth, detained by Chief Dan Mooney and Williams, is held as an accomplice. Entry was through a rear transom. interior ransacked but no funds or valuables missing. Benninghovren, a Davis Produce truck driver, awaits a December 12 preliminary hearing. D R Woodbridge and Burl Stephens were also detained on related charges.

The Beakerhead era notes that Bud Sprinkle, foreman for Poindexter & Orr, took cattle toward a vast valley then named the Centennial Valley after Rachel Orr proposed a Centennial year link. The Poindexter & Orr outfit dates to 1854 with early ranching at Bannack and Virginia City, later expanding to Dillon area, including the Richard Deacon and C C Cornell properties. Hansen 62 a prominent ranchman died about 1 30 a m Tuesday at his home six miles east of the city from injuries sustained Saturday afternoon when hauling hay his team bolted after he opened a gate He tied the team and walked home to summon help Born January 26 1885 in Denmark he moved to Beaverhead county in 1905 and married Marie Madsen in Dillon in 1910 He was an active Lutheran and survived by his widow two daughters in law and two sons in law.

Driver Escapes Injury in Wreck Near Dillon
Mrs. Marie Ann McClain of Ogden Utah escaped with slight injuries when her car left the highway and overturned in a barrow pit about 11 miles south of Dillon Thursday night. Claude Freeman of Dell found the wreck and extricated her. Fred Rutledge brought her to Dillon. The accident was investigated by a state highway patrolman.
