Beaverhead county treasurer Mrs. Alice Orr notes 2,734 taxpayers with 1,833 paid by Wednesday noon and 951 yet to pay by Saturday. The 41st annual drive runs to Christmas with seals mailed countywide and pencils sold in rural districts to support local health and tuberculosis work. Mrs B L Jones is county seal sale chairman.

Death claims early Beaverhead resident Mrs Isabel Fargher
Funeral services for Mrs Isabel Fargher were held at the Brundage chapel with Rev James M Hunter of the Methodist church. The body was shipped to Michigan City Indiana for interment. She died at Barrett hospital after a lingering illness. Born March 1 1883 in LaPorte County Indiana she moved to the Big Hole basin with her parents then lived in Beaverhead county for eight years in Dillon. Survived by son Dr Francis Fargher and three grandchildren of Michigan City a brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Frank Husted of Wise River and nieces and nephews including Dr Harve Stanchfield of Dillon and Verne Stanchfield of Wise River. Cousin Mrs Bertha Francis of Wisdom also identified.

Hunting of Elk Closes Thursday In Big Hole area
About 275 elk have been killed in the Big Hole region spanning Beaverhead Deer Lodge and Silver Bow counties. The Montana Fish and Game Department announced the season will close to hunting at midnight Thursday, with two days notice required by regulations.

Ski Tow Open at Elkhorn Hot Springs on Sunday

State prison inmates repair over seven thousand toys
Inmates at Deer Lodge prison repaired and reconditioned more than 7000 toys during fall and winter. A Q and A study club delegation led by Mrs. Ronnemose, Mrs. Benson, and Mrs. Anderson reported to Warden Henry that 45 local children will receive the toys. Delegates from several Montana communities attended the luncheon at the penitentiary.
