Idaho to stage first 52 day deer hunt in Middle Fork region
State Fish and Game Director Owen W. Morris announced a first time in Idaho the launch of a 52 day deer season in the Middle Fork of the Salmon River country this fall. The two deer region between Bernard Landing Field and Sulphur Creek opens Sept 15 to Nov 5 with hunters required to use designated animals and purchase special tags at local checking stations.

About 800 attended as Southern Montana home club organized events with a 400 pounds beef barbecue served by German Peterson. Fan Stars Qualify for State Tourney With Double-Bill Win
Ed Buck coached Fan Stars to two decisive victories over Pilot Stars 6 5 and 8 0 under lights on Monday night. Paul Chamrau sparked the first game with a triple after Ben Davis led off with a walk, while McGovern pitched a shutout in the second game and contributed two hits and two runs. The Pilots led 4 3 after Earl Fairbanks homered in the fourth, but the Fans took control in the late innings to secure the Dillon league berth to Lewistown’s state tournament.

Peterson shoots impressively at Grand American in Vandalia
Herman Peterson ranchman and president of the western district of the American Trapshooting association broke 99 of 100 targets in his Grand American match at Vandalia Ohio. He telegraphed the Dillon Gun club and plans to return to Billings then drive to Lewistown for the Montana state softball tournament. He sponsors the Petersons Ranchers, a Dillon team in the event.

Evlyn McMahone Victim in Buick Blowout
Evlyn McMahone of Salt Lake City was a blowout victim when a 1939 Buick coupe she drove lost a left front tire and plunged into a swampy bar-pit two miles north of Armstead. The car damage was about 150 dollars and no serious injuries were reported.

Forty Rams to Exhibit at Dillon Show and Sale
Fourteen consignors filed to exhibit at the 1941 Ram Show and Sale in Dillon on September 29. The event features morning shows, afternoon sales, and $100 prize funds from Dillon Chamber of Commerce. Dillon Twin Bridges Road Gains Federal Aid Status
The Dillon to Twin Bridges highway is added to the Federal Aid Highway program receiving seven percent aid. State engineer Howard Holmes notes the Public Roads Administration approved the route between Dillon and Twin Bridges for federal aid, a move expected to ease Beaverhead and Madison county travel.

Funeral Rites Held For Knight Boy At Argenta
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. for Rutherford Knight four year old son of Mr and Mrs Jack Knight of Argenta. He drowned Friday after falling into a seven foot water filled prospect hole near Watson creek while visiting his father. The body was found by his father and mining crew and brought to Dillon for burial at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Hartman Charles Johnson George Gullickson and Fred Heany. He is survived by his parents and an older brother.

Postal service to be bettered in Dillon this fall
Postmaster Harry J. Andrus announced Dillon’s postal service will enlarge and improve after a week long survey by Postal Inspector H. E. Young. Changes take effect around October 1 with two daily parcel post deliveries and expanded coverage including Kentucky avenue. A clerk will remain on duty until 8 p m to close mail for the southbound train while northbound schedules stay unchanged.

Crime Career Is Checked by Idaho Police
Jerry Davis a 15 year old was arrested in Moscow Idaho on a minor offense charge ending a brief crime career across Western Montana and Northern Idaho. Sheriff Paul Temple said the youth admitted breaking into the Dillon Tribune office stealing pennies and over 6.00 in defense savings stamps cashing them at a Butte post office. He stole a Buick owned by Dr W H Stephan and broke into a Missoula store before being captured and turned over to Missoula authorities.
