Ranch hand shot to death in Lima cabin
Albert Peterson 45 a Lima ranch laborer was found dying Sunday with a large calibre bullet wound through his left breast. He was rushed to Barrett hospital where he died. Peterson born January 16 1892 had lived in the area all his life and served in World War I. An inquest was held by Coroner James E. Phillips.

Beaverhead lamb crop brings good prices
Beaverhead County reports strong lamb demand with about 85 percent of the 1937 crop contracted. Prices range eight to nine cents a pound, top of last year, as local buyers compete with outsiders. Beaverhead county announces its third annual ram sale will be held Thursday October 16. County Agent Bernard Williams notes the sale has drawn strong attendance and consignors from several counties. The Beaverhead Agricultural Conservation program approved county range surveys and informed operators to file protests or changes within 15 days. A potato growers committee was formed to coordinate fair prices with nearby counties. Mrs. L M Holloran returned from an extended eastern trip to Pennsylvania New York New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Bannack Mill to Resume Operations Within 30 Days

Birch Creek CCC Camp Employee Dies After Illness
Walter P. Damon, 48, a Birch Creek CCC camp mechanic, died at Barrett hospital Sunday afternoon after a brief pneumonia illness. He arrived at the camp from Kalispell three weeks ago. Survived by his widow, two children, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Damon of Kalispell. Body sent to Kalispell for interment.

Dillon Boy Scout Tells of Journey to Jamboree
John Carr of Dillon spoke at the Dillon Rotary dinner about the trip by 17 Butte area Scouts to the National Scout Jamboree in Washington DC. He described visits from Chicago to New York including Grant's Tomb and the Statue of Liberty, with 26,000 Scouts at the event and programs with over 4,000 participants. The homeward route included Pontiac Milwaukee and the Black Hills.

City Fire Truck Extends Long Run To Ranch Blaze
Dillon fire department’s pump truck made its longest run in recent months to a blaze on the George Rebich ranch ten miles south of Dillon. Fire of undetermined origin destroyed an old sheep shed but did not threaten other buildings. A ranch hand suffered a heavy cash loss of about $50 cached in the shed.
