National and local officials attended the funeral for Joseph D. Scanlan publisher of the Miles City Star, who died after a long illness. The body was taken to Superior Wisconsin for burial. Scanlan, a Montana Republican leader since 1909, came to Montana in 1905 to work for the Anaconda Standard.
