Rites Held Friday for Pvt Welborn in City Memorial
Funeral services for Pvt Ken R Welborn son of Mr and Mrs William M Welborn were held Friday in the city with Rev J Thompson Bak absent. Welborn fell on Luzon January 17 1945 while with the Sixth Army as a World War II casualty. Body from Ogden Utah was escorted to Brundage funeral home by American Legion veterans. Mountain View Cemetery was the scene of military honors including firing squad color bearers and a Legion VFW color guard. Pallbearers were Lloyd Davis 22 F Matthew Orr Tommy Ross and Eddie Ashworth.

Ernest Myron Colton pleaded guilty to grand larceny for stealing batwing chapps and a .22 rifle from the Tom Pierce ranch near Grant around June 24. He was sentenced by Judge Lyman H. Bennett to two years in the state prison. Walter Heusenga sought a continuance of his arraignment to August 16 and remains held on $1,000 bail for issuing a fictitious instrument.

Future Farmers Win At Great Falls Fair
Beaverhead county Future Farmers of America group attended the North Montana State fair in Great Falls last week and earned seven blue ribbons three red and three white. Delegation members were Joe Krall Dan Scot Roscoe Pilon Gene Pilon and Bob Routledge. The team tied for second in stock judging with Miles City while Billings won the contest. A truckload of hogs forage exhibits and chapter shop work traveled to the fair and the group considered their showing excellent amid keen competition.

Mrs. William Shambow a longtime Beaverhead County resident was laid to rest Friday in Corvallis. Born in Iowa in 1878 she came to Dillon in 1882 and lived in Centennial valley before marrying in 1893.
