Destin Water Users Plan New Well On Calhoun
Destin Water Users reveals a fifth well on Calhoun Avenue near the First Presbyterian Church with a 75 foot test boring to judge site suitability for an elevated tank. The plan includes a $22,500 option to buy lot 67, block D in Calhoun subdivision and a crossing proposal for an under harbor line to serve Holiday Isle. Negotiations over a lease with the Destin Community Center failed, prompting DWU to seek property elsewhere. Ongoing work includes upgrading Airport Road well capacity, phase three of the wastewater plant near completion, Evergreen/Stahlman sewer installation, lift station upgrades on Holiday Isle, paving access to the sewer plant, and a new, more efficient DWU copier to be donated to the Destin Library after trade-in.
