The political action committee PAC To Meet The Committee For Good will host a meeting Monday November 3 at 6 p.m. at Destin Elementary School. Incumbent City Council candidates Bill Phillips Lloyd Taylor and Ted Shaw will attend for public questions and endorsement discussion.

Producer Lester Dumas says the half hour program will explore Rodeo history and the shift from commercial to charter fishing, plus Destin’s development and its impact on the local industry. Filming crews arrived in Destin to begin work.
Okaloosa County school board hopefuls largely oppose a state lottery. One undecided, another would support it only with conditions. Petrey argues funds would not be earmarked for education and condemns gambling as a bad edifying model.
Destin Chamber of Commerce board approves co sponsorship of the Christmas Parade with Patce Strahan for liability insurance and public applications. Parade on Dec 13 at 3 p.m. with bands floats Santa and elves. Applications available Nov 1 at the chamber office. Also co sponsor of Destin Alliance with Destin Women’s Club.
DOT official Allen Potter told the Midday Bridge Authority that environmental studies and permitting could stretch 2 to 20 years before a contract can be let, with design potentially starting in the final six months. He favors a hill to hill span from White Point Niceville to Piney Point Destin, over wetlands, three miles long.
