Destin Fireboard approves loan and raises chief salary
Destin fire commissioners approved a fixed rate loan of 317000 with First National Bank for an aerial truck and plan a 25000 to 30000 bay at Station 2. Fire Chief Hank Berry received a 5 percent promotional raise plus an 8 percent standard raise retroactive to Oct 1, boosting annual pay by about 2400. The board also budgeted the Destin Search and Recovery Unit and discussed adding a 2400 watt generator next year. A Chamber lunch on Oct 23 will cover the Soviet build up and national security with Capt Peter R Faber at Western Sizzlin.
