The Mid-Bay Bridge Authority, appointed by Gov. Bob Graham, will hold its first meeting at the courthouse annex in Shalimar on Monday Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. The five members will plan fundraising and construction of a bridge across Choctawhatchee Bay. Destin residents George French and Glenn Kilpatrick are among the appointees.
The Nomads of Eglin Air Force Base 33rd Tactical Fighter Wing ready for William Tell 86 from October 12 to 25. Maintenance crews depart for Tyndall AFB near Panama City today as seven pilots and five F 15 Eagles accompany the team. The Nomads aim to become the first unit to win the top team award twice in a row.
Judge Erwin Fleet of Okaloosa County is among 35 applicants seeking two Florida Supreme Court seats. He is invited to present before the Supreme Court Nominating Committee on October 23 in Tampa. Each applicant will give a 10 minute presentation as part of the process.

Consultants presented two 2015 traffic relief designs to the Metropolitan Planning Organization subcommittee. The plan expands highways and adds new links, including a six lane bypass east of Destin and a four lane upgrade of U S 98 from Sandestin, plus a White Point Piney Point bridge.
Fort Walton police captain and Okaloosa officials report the Drug Task Force has seized a drug hauling car and made a series of arrests. The C-2 Unit formed in February is a joint venture of the Okaloosa Sheriff's Office Fort Walton Police and the State Attorney to combat illegal drugs in the county. The five investigators have targeted cocaine sales to undercover agents and use seized funds to sustain the program.
