Destin Pool Earns Four NSPI Design Awards
Destin Pool Services Inc received four NSPI honors for quality pool design. The Grand Mariner Condominium outdoor pool on Highway 98, designed by Jim Patrick, won first in the commercial design category. John McCabe praised Patrick and the Grand Mariner project. A Destin Pool designed Sandestin residential pool took second place in residential design, with Patrick earning two merit awards for an Indian Trail residence pool and a Calhoun Avenue spa and pool.

Windham Company Makes INC 500 List With 722 Percent Growth
The Windham Company owner of Sandestin Inn Holiday Beach Resort Destin Holliday Beach Resort in Destin ranked 252 in the 1983 INC 500. The Nov 16 New York reception announced Windham as one of 31 Florida firms on the list. Windham posted 722 percent sales growth 1978–82 and is building the Pensacola Hilton due mid May 1984.

Social Security Office to Open Full Time in Ostin Fort Walton Beach
Congressman Earl Hutto says a permanent full time Social Security office will be established in the Ostin Fort Walton Beach area. The Department of Health and Human Services has asked the General Services Administration to secure space as soon as possible. A firm opening date isn’t set but once staffed it will offer applications claims and interviews locally. Until then the SSA will continue three weekly visits at the current contact station. The move promises easier access and government savings by reducing travel from Pensacola.
