Florida seals 30 and 20 mile buffer zones on gulf drilling
U S Interior Department approves two buffer zones off Florida’s northeast Gulf coast. A 30 mile buffer from Panama City east to Naples and a 20 mile zone from Walton County to Perdido Key. Senator Hawkins says the plan preserves beaches and blocks drilling until environmental review. The deal follows a one year moratorium with potential two year effect and a late 1985 lease schedule.

Zoning red-tags two Destin projects over CCCL violations
Okaloosa County officials halted work at June's Dunes on Highway 98 after a complaint that cantilevered windows project seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line. An additional halt at Holiday Beach Resort followed reports of sand pushed atop dunes seaward of the CCCL. Officials lifted the tag after sand removal and apologies from resort managers. The violations were referred to state agencies for review.
