Faye Shaw was gravely burned and hospitalized in guarded condition with burns over 30 percent of her body. Wanda Gibbs, treated for burns, was released. 450-Unit Hotel Planned To Replace Riviera Motel
Destin developer Vic Deal and two Dallas partners completed a 7.8 million dollar land purchase for 16 acres on Highway 98 to build a 450 unit hotel a 300 condo complex and about 30 shops. The project aims for a luxury 12 story hotel with an atrium skylights two pools and a convention center targeting winter conventions and a self contained resort experience. Deal noted a letter of intent with a major hotel chain to be finalized within 30 days and touted plans to draw convention business to the Panhandle.
