Destin evacuees praised as Elena passes with light impact

Residents fled westward amid traffic jams at U S 331 in Walton County while deputies patrolled for looting. Fire crews prepped, water service was briefly shut, and boat crews began returning to docks as the storm’s northeast quadrant veered away.
