Destin Contemplates Double Tax to Fund Park Services
Okaloosa County commissioners propose a Municipal Services Taxing Unit to tax residents in unincorporated areas for park maintenance and sheriff's road deputy costs. They warn the levy could appear as a microscopic mill increase, while noting some areas like Calhoun and Wayside parks are publicly used. The plan remains in the concept stage as feasibility is studied. Destin began the county’s first MSTA with Bell-Aire.
