25 Years Ago Collisions and deaths marked Denton area roads
The Ford car of Cyrus Stufft of Greensboro and another car with a Georgia plate collided on the State road between Denton and Greensboro. Stufft suffered a severe facial cut. A Pennsylvan ia truck forced Charles K. Evans’ car off the road near Cecilton. Evans, his wife, and Mr. and Mrs. T. Dukes Roe escaped serious injury. Mr. M. M. Lizader was struck by an auto driven by William Finn in a heavy rainstorm, with nonfatal injuries. William J. Layton, longtime Burrsville farmer, died in Philadelphia aged nearly 87, survived by three daughters. Layton’s remains were returned for burial at Burrsville’s Wesley Church. More local notices include social visits, license tag plans for Maryland, and various community gatherings and honors. The Caroline County Health Department reported August activities including 80 X-rays, food establishment registrations, sanitarian inspections, and a health talk to 200 people on Environmental Sanitation.
