Dealers Set For Service The Delmarva Association meeting

The Delmarva Farm Equipment Association closed its annual summer meeting at the George Washington Hotel with a two day program of talks by leaders in merchandising personnel management and public relations. President L H Fleming announced that the Delmarva Dealers would consolidate with similar implement dealer groups in Virginia and Maryland, with ratification possible at the other associations annual meetings. Officers include J Edward Taylor vice president H L Tharp secretary treasurer and board members J E Patton Carville Fleetwood W H Drape r J R Jewell John Noble and W V Hughes. T B Hale of International Harvester urged a clearly defined pattern of operations.

A relief drive by the Church of the Brethren collects candles food clothing old Readers Digest fats and shoes for Church World Service Center. Donations start immediately at the parsonage on Seventh Street Denton and end October 7. Clean clothes only.

Brethren Mutual Fire Insurance Honors 6th Anniversary

Brethren Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Hagerstown Maryland marked its sixth anniversary with a September 16 1947 50th anniversary dinner at the Hotel Alexander. Speakers included Harry P Cooper Jr National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and Edwin A Miller whose remarks traced early company history. Over 100 guests including directors solicitors employees policyholders and their spouses attended. The company founded January 1897 began with 50000 in initial insurance by a German Baptist Brethren group led by David Ausherman.

Rock Hall Wins Opener In Semi Finals

Rock Hall edged Hartly 1 to 0 in a Marvel League semi final opener as Carroll and Vodvarka dueled on the mound. Chestertown beat Camden Wyoming 9 to 0 behind Coakley’s strong pitching, moving to fourth place and setting a Sunday meeting with Felton.

Soccer League Underway Here Forms Local League

The Eastern Shore Soccer League began organizing last Monday to start play in October with six to eight teams. Denton Ridgely Queen Anne Centreville Greensboro Kent Island and Hurlock are among those represented. A second meeting next Monday will elect officers and finalize league business. The Denton Club named Bob Irwin as manager and coach with Mac Lord as business manager. practice starts Sunday September 28. Younger players are expected as several veterans plan to retire.

First Methodist Church Celebrates 131st Birthday

Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes will preach at 10 45 a.m. during the churchs 131st anniversary. New York soprano Miss Sarah Revelle is featured at 8 p.m. with Mrs Kenneth Thomas as guest organist. Revelle has performed in Messiah Elijah Requiem and Stabat Mater. Thomas is a Peabody graduate organist at Zion Church Cambridge. Public invite extended.

Mrs Simpson Den ton Girl Heads Del Firemen Aux

Delegates and alternates from 26 auxiliaries of the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association attended its annual meeting at the Pike Theatre in Philadelphia Pike Claymont Delaware. Kathryn Simpson of Harrington presided. The Claymont auxiliary held a church dinner and Virginia Holloway of Harrington led the memorial service. Pvt. Thomas W. Sharp, son of Mr and Mrs Childs Sharp, finished Marine boot camp at Parris Island and will return home September 20 for a 10 day leave.

Foreign correspondent warns Rotarians on Japan's state

James R. Young, longtime International News Service Far East director and Wilmington Star publisher, told Denton Rotarians that Japan remains strong in industrial power and political standing. He urged Americans to wake to the reality that democracy is not advancing in Japan and the military ethos endures. He spoke as guest of John W. Logan.
